CAT 5 Cable VS. Wireless for Home Security

[Q] Is CAT 5 Cable more secure than wireless when used for home alarm systems?

[A] This is going to depend greatly on how you define "secure".

Home alarm systems come in a variety of hardware configurations these days. Standard hard-wired sensor systems, wireless systems with remote access and combinations of both.

These systems can communicate to monitoring centers by using a standard telephone line, a broadband internet connection and also cellular backup.

The connection between the devices makes no difference due to the fact that the interruption of a sensor will trigger the alarm either way.

Attempting to cut the hard line (either telephone or broadband) would be pointless given the cellular backup would still send the alalrm signals to the monitoring station.

CAT 5 Cable Company sells CAT 6, CAT 5E, and CAT 5 Patch and Crossover cables in 9 colors, custom fit to any length up to 328 feet.
